from the beach to the bench
This earring jacket is formed from a sea urchin shell I found while walking the beach. I carried it home to New York City, where a family-run casting house in the Diamond District made a mold so it could be cast in precious metal. At my jewelry bench, I refined the metal form into an earring jacket made to be worn and treasured for a lifetime.
The texture catches light in unique ways, inviting a closer look. Made for the one who likes to make her jewelry collection her own, this sculptural earring jacket slips behind a favorite stud to give a familiar pair of earrings an entirely different look.
Named for Ceto (SEE-toh), who appears in Greek mythology as the primordial goddess of the sea, mother of sea monsters and marine wonders. This jacket carries that same sense of the ocean's depth and the beauty found within it.
