rooted in tradition
The tradition of weaving speaks across cultures and time. I first started weaving wax wire at my coffee table, and the rhythm of it became a signature Kefi technique. These hoops begin with wax wire shaped into a twisted form, then cast in precious metal by a family-run casting house in New York City's Diamond District. I refine each pair at my jewelry bench, where the finishing details bring the design together.
Made for the one who appreciates an everyday hoop with an interesting detail, these sculptural earrings are designed for daily wear, with a Herkimer diamond suspended at the base. This naturally faceted quartz crystal is found only in Upstate New York, adding a connection to place and a subtle point of light.
Named for Astraea (uh-STRAY-uh), the star-maiden of Greek mythology who became the constellation Virgo. These hoops carry that same sense of lightness and clarity.
